In 1998 the series of EPRBioDose International Conferences was created by extending the International Symposium on EPR Dosimetry and Applications with the International Conference on Biodosimetry. The core applications of EPR dating, reference-, transfer- and quality assurance-dosimetry in radiation processing and medicine were broadened by inclusion of retrospective EPR dosimetry for applications in epidemiology and radiation accidents. In 2006 the scope was further widened by cytogenetic dose reconstruction and dosimetry for radiological emergency response.

An effort will be made to keep a balance between all core applications, basic research applied research and expertise. This specific conference will include EPR and cytogenetic dosimetry and their applications for the sharing of technological advances and a better understanding of physical, biophysical and biological processes in the field of ionizing radiation.

The EPRBioDose conference will be an event to promote the collaboration of scientists working in different fields of dosimetry and young scientists are encouraged to present their work and interact with other colleagues and experts.

At the first time the EPRBioDose conference is organized under auspices of the International Association of Biological and EPR Radiation Dosimetry (IABERD). The aim of the IABERD is to sustain cooperation over time between scientists working in the various aspects of EPR dosimetry, EPR dating and biodosimetry, by providing a common framework for the organization of EPRBioDose conferences.

Conference Format

The format of the meeting in 2013 will be similar to that of previously well organized EPRBioDose meetings, with plenary talks in the mornings, various parallel sessions and poster presentations.

Experts in selected topics of interest will give invited lectures. In addition to these invited speakers, speakers will be also selected on the basis of their submitted abstracts.

Posters will be presented during the entire period of the meeting. An award will be given to three best posters that will be evaluated by the award commission.

Registration and Payment

To register for the conference you have to follow the following steps:

- 1 - Fill in the Registration form.

- 2 - Print the pdf doc 'payment and room reservation'.

   Fill in the form and send either the scanned version by email or the original completed  form by regular post to the address of the secretariat of the conference venue Holiday Inn as mentioned on the form.

- 3 - As soon as your form for 'payment and room reservation' has been received by the secretariat of Holiday Inn, your registration will be confirmed by an email.

Abstract submission

All participants are encouraged to submit an abstract and to give either an oral presentation or to present a poster. 

In addition to invited speakers for plenary and parallel sessions, speakers will be also selected on the basis of their submitted abstracts.  Participants will be notified not later than January 20, 2013 whether they are selected to give an oral presentation. In case you are not selected for an oral presentation you are expected to present a poster.

Abstract submission

Please note: the deadline for abstract submission for oral or poster presentation is closed.

Poster presentations

Format poster board: wide 1 meter; height 2 meter.

Poster will be presented during the entire meeting. As a poster presenter you may bring a few slides, not more than 5, in case the organizing committee invites you to present your data orally.

Young Scientist award

Young scientists can apply for a fellowship. A letter of motivation plus an abstract has to be sent to the scientific committee f.darroudi@lumc.nl 

Visa application

For people who need a visa for the Netherlands, please, contact the secretariat on time; the application can take several months! The secretariat will send you a formal invitation letter for the Embassy to get a visa to the Netherlands.

Conference Proceedings

The conference proceedings will be published in an International peer-reviewed journal. The scientific committee of this conference will review the proceedings.

EPRBioDose Workshops

In order to expand the knowledge and expertise, and to initiate harmonization in cytogenetic and physical Dosimetry research programs, for the first time, the organizers have initiated and generated a possibility for participants to follow a Two-day Pre-EPRBioDose Workshop on Cytogenetic BioDosimetry (theoretical / practical), as well as EPR (theoretical) techniques.

Those individuals having interest to participate at one of these workshops should fill in the form before November 1, 2012. Only a limited number of space is available, and reservation should be made in advance.

How to reach the meeting venue Holiday-Inn Leiden 

Schiphol airport in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) is at approximately 25 km away from Leiden.

The conference venue Holiday-Inn hotel is located at the vicinity of Leiden central railway station. A shuttle bus (free of charge) from and to Holiday Inn hotel is available at Leiden central railway station on working days twice every hour.

Outside the indicated days/times you have to find your own way.

A taxi from Schiphol airport to HI costs about 75 euro and from Leiden central railway  station to HI about 15 euro. Alternatively take public transport: the train from Schiphol to Leiden Central Station (~20 minutes) and from there the bus to Holiday Inn (~5 minutes). For those coming by car a parking place can be reserved at no cost in Hotel Holiday-Inn when reservation is made at the time of registration.
